Horse Riding In Chile
Chile’s riding possibilities are probably the most diverse in South America, with the best places in the country being the far south and far north of the country. In the south the Andes meet the ocean and the clash of the climates has left some spectacular peaks which are ideal for riding around. In the far north the desert like landscape is home to pre Inca ruins, flat salt lakes and valleys with moon like features.
Most of the riding in Chile is done as a half or full day excursion allowing you to combine any other interests you have with some riding. The estancias and lodges in both parts have stables, some with over 40 horses to choose from and each experience is taken with an qualified riding guide.
Chilean Patagonia is one of the most remotest and beautiful areas of the world, with lush forests, deep fjords, spectacular shaped mountains and awe inspiring glaciers. Amongst the scenery is also an abundance of exotic wildlife. The Atacama Desert is the driest place on earth, offering amazing scenery, numerous activities, and year round good weather. The best base for exploring the Atacama region is the remote town of San Pedro, made almost entirely of adobe mud brick.
Our favourite riding experiencesThe Hosteria Las Torres Set in the east of the Torres de Paine National Park and with views onto the towers of the Paine itself, this is a great option. It is still a rustic hotel which offers a perfect location
Explora Patagonia is a luxurious lodge in the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park, where a day's exploring of this incredible environment is made even more enjoyable by the comforts of the evening
Alto Atacama has been built from the very soil of Atacama and the native wood of Coligue which covers the roofs, creating beautiful displays of light and shadow. Alto Atacama also has state of the art facilities
