Accommodation
This is a luxury hotel and the rooms are furnished to a very high standard, with luxury linen and towels and bathrobes. The valley’s cultural history inspired the architecture and interiors of the Hacienda Urubamba. You’ll find colonial furniture, brightly coloured woven rugs, original Inca masks and locally handcrafted woodwork – all working together to create an atmosphere that is infused with the spirit of the Andes.

All the 12 rooms in the Casa Hacienda and 24 stand-alone luxury casitas feature breath taking views. For those wanting to keep in touch with the modern world there is free WiFi in all rooms.

Location
Hacienda Urubamba is in a beautiful mountain setting, surrounded by wild flowers and trees. The Sacred Valley of the Incas is where some of the best Inca sites are, and is a great place to start your visit to Cusco. As such the Hacienda Urubamba is designed to rejuvenate guests and assist them with the acclimatisation process.

Activities
The Urubamba valley offers an authentic Peruvian experience for travellers with its picturesque villages, folk arts and crafts and charming indigenous people. Guests can go on excursions to local farming communities and attend spiritual services to hear Quechua, the language of the Inca.  Or they can visit a local chiceria and try their hand at cooking up some chicha or corn beer using traditional production methods.

The weather is generally good all year-round and if you’re an adventure lover you’ll enjoy the outdoor activities such as trekking, horseback riding, rafting and mountain biking. For quieter souls the hotel also runs excursions, such as bird watching (there are more than 30 species in the hotel grounds) and llama cart rides.

Then, at the end of a busy day out exploring, you may wish to relax into one of the comfortable leather chairs on the hotel terrace with a cocktail and gaze up at the stars of the southern hemisphere as they sparkle across the Sacred valley.

Food and drink
Organic ingredients are harvested at the Hacienda itself on its 10-acre plantation (guests are welcome to pick their own produce if they choose). Carbon-free crops such as quinoa, Urubamba giant corn, medicinal herbs and a variety of potatoes are farmed with traditional hand tools and oxen, as people did centuries ago.

For those guests going on excursions picnics and packed lunches can be organised and an A la carte menu is offered for dinner in the restaurant and on the terrace. There is a candle lit lounge bar in the hotel with a wine cave, a wide selection of macerated piscos, and a cocktail hour.
