Rio Sagrado

The Sacred Valley

The Rio Sagrado Hotel is a luxurious option in the Sacred Valley set on the banks of the rushing Urubamba River.  This beautiful Orient-Express hotel is built in natural materials to resemble an authentic Andean village. Situated at a lower altitude than nearby Cuzco, its delightful hotel villas provide the perfect environment in which to relax and acclimatise. Every detail has been thought through here to ensure comfort.  These include all the little touches that make the difference for any stay as wells as the larger things such as under floor heating in your room!

Why we recommend it:

  • Only 21 rooms and suites
  • Lovely sitting area and bar
  • Superb spa and massages
  • Perfect location slightly away from town, yet close enough to head in for dinner
  • Classic orient express standard for service throughout

The 21 rooms and suites at Hotel Rio Sagrado are built for luxury.  There is no need to mention the comforters snuggled inside fresh custom-made duvet covers laid over Peruvian pima cotton sheets and extra-fluffy goose feather pillows; these things you would expect.

What you might not expect is the strategically placed beds which allow for awakening to a glorious river view, while slanted windows over the showers redefine bathing under the sun.

The light wood finishes throughout the suites and elegant European furniture blend gracefully with the locally inspired minimalistic décor.
The deluxe rooms have been constructed from natural stone and woods, and finished with marble and onyx bathrooms with flagstone terraces.  Each room is unique and offers stunning views over the Urubamba River and on into the Sacred Valley.
The junior suites have combined the essence and colours of Peru with European minimalistic décor.  Each suite includes large extra-comfortable beds and direct access to a private terrace.
The spa is veiled by indigenous trees within a natural bouquet of wild flowers, which lies behind a magnificent riverfront stone monument whose architectural design honours those constructed centuries ago by the Incas.
Offering treatments derived from local native plants and massages to soothe and relax you, a treatment at Spa Mayu Wilka is the perfect start to any Peruvian adventure. Amenities at the spa include a spacious indoor/outdoor Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and Spanish showers.
