Banana Palms Hotel

Livingston and Rio Dulce

The journey to or from this hotel, located on the banks of the Rio Dulce, approximately 90 minutes by boat from Livingston is half the adventure.  You pass small fishing settlements, indigenous villages and a profusion of wildlife, not to mention the superb primary rain forest that surrounds the area. The Banana Palms once had grand expectations and planned to build over 100 rooms on the edge of this sleepy little river and in the end it settled for 33.

Why we recommend it:

  • The best hotel in town
  • Close to all restaurants and bars
  • Master rooms are the ones to go for
  • Great views from the balcony overlooking the river

The rooms are split into blocks with 3 rooms per block.  They have 3 room types here with each having small differences.  The master rooms have a sitting area, twin queen beds and large veranda with a Jacuzzi overlooking the river, the superior are identical but without the Jacuzzi and slightly smaller balconies, whilst the standard room has a king size bed, or two queens and small balcony as well.

All are clean and comfortable and come all amenities, such as en-suite facilities, cable TV and air conditioning. The hotel has two swimming pools, one for children and one for adults, a games room, sitting areas around both the pools and river and a restaurant on site that serves the local fish of the day from the river.  The hotel also offers a range of water based activities, from jet skis to, Banana boats!
