Peuma Hue Lodge

The lodge is beautifully designed, combining great comfort and contact with nature: huge windows, roaring fires, lovely quiet spots to sit and meditate; the suites even have baths with views of the stars. Evelyn and the staff have a special quality; deeply connected with the place and its wildlife.

Why we recommend it:

  • Beautifully located in a valley
  • Large log cabins
  • Excellent activities
  • Home cooked food

Peuma Hue means ‘place of dreams’ in the native Mapuche language and is located right on the shore of indigo Lago Gutiérrez, with jagged mountains soaring up behind the lodge, thickly forested with virgin beech woods and filled with wildlife, this Estancia is located in a prime position.
All the major trails of the area lie nearby, but in Peuma Hue's own 500 acres you can hike alone to pristine waterfalls, take a kayak onto the calm waters of the lake, or ride with the resident horse guide to secret places no vehicle could reach.
The Main House that is extremely comfortableand warm, nicely decorated and with majestic views from its windows. It has four rooms each with large windows all around, giving you spectacular views. The spacious living room looks at the Gutierrez lake, with a more intimate space around the stone fireplace for evening snacks. The dining room, overlooking the emerald- green bay and the steep D´Agostini Mountain, is open to the wooden kitchen and its views of the Continental Divide Valley.
The two bedrooms on the ground floor have wooden furniture and Indian masks, or iron beds, old pictures and patina decorations.
250 yards from the main house, across a hanging bridge, is the guest house which has the same comfort of the main house, but is slightly smaller. The guesthouse has 4 double bedrooms a large living and dining room with a stone fireplace with superb views over the lake.  The two bedrooms on the ground floor, each decorated in its own style, overlook the lake and the granite wall of the D´Agostini Mountain. The charm of the original furniture offers a distinctive ambiance.
La del Arroyo or Creek Cabin
This was the only building on the property when the place was bought. Beautifully recycled and decorated, this cosy log cabin has a huge stone fireplace with windows offer views to the rolling hills, the creek and the D´Agostini Mountains.
It consist of a double bedroom, a living room with 2 extra beds, a bar dividing the living room from the kitchen and a bathroom with shower. Ideal either for a couple or up to 4 guests.
Mountain Cabin
600ft up the D´Agostini slope, with exhilarating views over the lake below and the Continental Divide valley to the south, this cabin is placed in a dream location. At its back, a narrow, deep canyon boasts 5 wonderful waterfalls amid a primeval forest of cypress and southern beech “coihue” and “lenga” trees.
The cabin has 2 double bedrooms, and upper loft with 2 more beds, 1 bathroom and a living room with a large stone around, even from its bathroom and kitchen.
