A note about pricing

This is an adventurous holiday which takes in the highlights of Peru and the remote deserts of both Bolivia and northern Chile whilst also combining a mix of accommodation, some of which is the best available.

As a guideline, the itinerary outlined below would cost approximately £9,960 per person based on two people travelling and includes all activities on a private basis unless stated, private transfers, all internal flights, entrance fees, accommodation and taxes and meals where mentioned.

Day 1 Fly to Lima, Peru.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Duo Hotel for the night in a superior room on a b&b basis.

Day 2 Met and transferred to the airport for your internal flight to Arequipa, depart on LA 2105 at 10:50 arrive 12:15.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Casa Andina Private collection hotel for the night in a superior room on a b&b basis.  Afternoon free for personal exploration, we would recommend visiting the Santa Catalina monastery and the Juanita Museum.

Day 3-4 After breakfast drive to the Colca Canyon, superb Andean scenery en-route as you pass under the snow-capped Ampato Volcano (6288m) and cross the Viscachani Pass (4800m).  Stop in Chivay for a dip in the hot springs and visit the Andean towns of Yanque and Achoma.  Overnight in the Colca lodge in the marital suite with a private Jacuzzi on a half board basis.  An early start the following morning gives you views across the Canyon and the chance of spotting the Andean Condor on the early morning thermals.  After several small walks into the canyon return to the Casa Andina Private collection hotel in Arequipa for the night on a b&b basis, arriving early evening.

Day 5 Met and transferred to the airport for your internal flight to Cuzco, depart on LA 2115 at 07:45 arrive 09:55 (please note the plane touches down in Juliaca).  Met on arrival and transferred to the Casa Andina San Blas hotel for the night in a superior room with a city view on a b&b basis. Afternoon free for personal exploration and acclimatisation.

Day 6-7 Met and transfer to the train station for your train to Machu Picchu, depart 06:53 arrive 09:30.  The train will stop at km104 where you will depart with your guide to walk to the sun gate via the Inca ruins of Winay Wayna, walk through the site and take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where your hotel is located, optional soak in the natural hot springs.  Overnight in the El Mapi hotel in a superior room on a half board basis.  Following morning you will be met by your guide and transferred to watch the sunrise over the site, followed by a guided visit & an optional climb of Huayna Picchu Mountain.  Transfer to the train station for the late afternoon train to Ollantaytambo, depart 15:20 arrive 17:08 where you will be met and transferred to the La Casona hotel for 2 nights in a Patio room on a b&b basis.

Day 8 A free day for personal exploration, we would recommend visiting the outlying sites of Tambomachay, Quenko and Sacsaywaman.
Day 9 Transfer to the train station for the train to Puno (first class).  Departs 08.00 arriving Puno 18.00.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Casa Andina Private collection hotel for the night in a superior room with a lake view on a b&b basis.

Day 10 Met and transferred to Copacabana (Bolivia) on the edge of Lake Titicaca after a short visit you will board your catamaran.  Visit the northern side of the Sun Island.  Overnight on catamaran.  Following morning visit remainder of northern side and southern side of Sun Island.  Lunch on board.  PM drive from Chua to La Paz.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Radisson hotel for the night in an executive superior room on a b&b basis.

Day 11 Met and transferred to the airport for your flight to Uyuni (with a touchdown in Sucre), depart on JJ 512 at 10:00 arrive 12:45.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Luna Salada hotel (salt hotel) for the night on a full board basis (lunch not included).  Aftrnoon free for personal exploration, we would recommend walking around the edge of the salt flat.

Day 12 Today is spent driving across the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world.  You will visit Inkawasi island, located in the heart of the salt flats and containing hundreds of cacti, some of which reach up to 8 metres in height.  Following lunch you will continue across the slat flat to the town of Ojo de Perdiz, Overnight in the Tayka hotel on a full board basis.

Day 13 Met in the morning for your drive to San Pedro de Atacama.  You will drive across the Sioli desert with its range of volcanic rock formations before reaching Hediona Lagoon where you will see flamingos.  Continue to Laguna Colorado, a red lagoon due to the sediment in the lagoon and home to 3 species of flamingo.  After lunch your next stop is Laguna Verde, which gives an impressive green colour due to its high magnesium content.  Passing a range of geysers you will reach the town of San Pedro de Atacama in the late afternoon.  Transfer to the Awasi hotel for 5 nights in a round suite on a full board basis including all activities.

Day 14-17 4 days to explore this fascinating region.  You could do some of the following
1. Early morning (04.00am) depart to Tatio to observe the geothermal phenomenon of Geisers situated at 4.100 metres. Breakfast at the geysers. Afterward we will return to San Pedro to soak in the Puritama hot springs, return to san Pedro for lunch (not included).  Afternoon visit to the Valle de la Luna (Moon valley) to watch the sunset.
2. Full day tour through: Atacama salt flat, Chaxa salt Lagoon with flamingoes, Toconao, Jerez, Altiplanic lakes of Miscanti and Meniques and Socaire with lunch. Return to San Pedro at the end of the day
3. A day of horse riding/mountain biking through the pre-Inca Andean towns of Pukara, Quitor and Tulor.
4. Climb one of the many 5,000 metre plus mountains in the region, from one day treks to 4 days – camping.
Day 18 Met and transferred to the airport for your internal flight to Santiago, depart on sky airlines H2 175 at 09:25 arrive 11:25, where you will connect with your return international flight
