A note about pricing

This classic Peru itinerary covers the best parts of the country whilst staying in some the best hotels available.

As a guideline, the itinerary outlined below would cost approximately £4,176 per person based on two people travelling and includes all activities on a private basis, private transfers, entrance fees, accommodation and taxes and meals where mentioned.

Please note that the itinerary does not include any international or internal flights

 

Day 1

Fly to Lima, normally arriving late at night. Met on arrival by our representative and transfer to the airport hotel, located inside the airport terminal, for the night in a superior room on a b&b basis.

Day 2

Walk to the domestic airport for your internal flight to Arequipa, flight time 90 mins.  Met on arrival and transferred to the Casa Andina private collection hotel for 2 nights in a superior room on a b&b basis.  Afternoon free for personal exploration.

Day 3

A free day for personal exploration and acclimatisation. We would recommend exploring; the main plaza and the surrounding churches and cathedrals, the San Camillo farmers market and Casa del Moral and the impressive Santa Catalina monastery

Day 4

Met for your 3 day 2 night adventure into the Colca Canyon. Leaving Arequipa (2,350 m) you drive under the snow-capped volcanoes of Chachani, Misti and Pichu Pichu which look over the city. You then begin your ascent to the Pampa plain Cañahuas crossing over the Viscachani Pass at 4,800 m before arriving at the Colca lodge which is located on the banks of the River Colca. 2 nights in the Colca Lodge in a standard room on a b&b basis.

Day 5

An early start (06:30) this morning to the Cruz del Condor, which gives you views across the Canyon and the chance of spotting the Andean Condor on the early morning thermals. Returning to Chivay you will visit three great villages and visit the Miradores de Antahuilque where you will be able to appreciate the sheer magnitude of the region’s terraces

Day 6

Transferred by road to Lake Titicaca (6 hrs). The journey crosses landscapes covered with yaretas, a local type of cactus that has adapted to the high altitude. You will circle the base of the Chucura volcano, cross a rugged plain covered with ichu grass where guanacos, alpacas, and vicuñas freely roam. On arrival in Puno, transfer to the Casa Andina private Collection hotel for the night in a superior room with a lake view on a b&b basis.

Day 7

Met and transfer to the train station for the train to Cuzco (first class), 3 course lunch included. Departs 07:30 arriving Cuzco 18:00. Met on arrival and transfer (1 hr) to the Sacred Valley and the Hacienda Urubamba hotel for 3 nights in a superior room on a b&b basis.

Day 8

A free day for personal exploration. There are a variety of activities available which can be booked and paid for locally and include; trekking, walking the Urubamba River, mountain biking, white water rafting or horse riding.

Day 9

Met for your full day visit to the Sacred Valley where you will see the market at Pisac including the Inca Ruins of Ollantaytambo and Pisac. Pisac is famous for its Mass and market, the remarkable Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo with its magnificent mountain stairway is incredible, whilst the Inca ruins of Pisac offer superb views across the valley.

Day 10

Met and transfer to the train station for your train (Vistadome) to Machu Picchu. On arrival you will have a guided visit of the site with the rest of the afternoon free to explore the ruins. We would recommend walking up to The Sun Gate (45 min), which offers a different view of this famous site. Overnight in the Machu Picchu Pueblo hotel in a superior room, half board basis.

Day 11

Transfer early in the morning to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. This is then followed by a climb of Huayna Picchu Mountain – the backdrop to this famous site. You then take the late afternoon Vistadome train to Cuzco. Met on arrival and transferred to the La Casona hotel for 3 nights in a patio suite on a b&b basis.

Day 12-13

2 days free for personal exploration, we would recommend visiting the outlying sites of Tambomachay, Quenko and Sacsaywaman. The city also has some superb churches and plazas as well as hidden cobbled streets lined with artisan shops making it an ideal place to explore on foot.

Day 14

Fly from Cuzco to Puerto Maldonado (60mins). On arrival you will be met and transferred by motorised canoe to the Reserva Amazonica lodge. An excellent lodge 18 miles of walking trails. The 4d/3n package staying in superior cabana includes all excursions and activities and is on a full board basis.

Day 15-16

Over the next two days here you will do a variety of jungle walks, caiman spotting at night, boat rides on lakes and piranha fishing.

Day 17

Met and transferred back to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Lima, depart on LA 2072 at 14:05 arrive 16:55. On arrival you will connect with your return international flight home.
