The first of the Mandarin Oriental hotel groups to open in Central America. The hotel stretches through the mangroves to the beach, with all but the suites situated amongst the mangroves. The hotel is enormous and one needs a beach buggy to get from your room to the beach or to the lobby.

THE DETAIL

There are a range of room types, each of which has a similar interior design, with the difference being location and size of your balcony or view. They are spacious and tastefully decorated, simple yet luxurious, with each having its own hot tub. It has all the amenities you would expect with air conditioning, wide screen television, WIFI, DVD, iPod docking stations and a concierge service second to none.

The staff are superbly well trained and nothing is too much and their attention to detail is fantastic. The beach area is relatively small, as is the pool area and the hotel has three restaurants; formal dining, beach front dining and a sushi bar, all of which serves excellent food.

The spa is what you would expect from the Mandarin group, it is a building unto itself, is beautifully laid out and extremely comprehensive.
