Plaza Mayor is a converted colonial house inside the historical quarter of Colonia.  It has a lovely feel to it with an interior courtyard, beautifully decorated with flowers and some of the rooms having views to the lighthouse and the nearby river.

The hotel was originally a Portuguese ranch in the early 1700’s before being converted into a private house in the 1860’s. As such it has some lovely features such as the internal courtyard with a small water fountain in the centre, small indoor patio areas and some original brickwork.
 
The hotel has 15 charming rooms, all of which are centred around the central courtyard, which is the main feature of the hotel.  There are 12 rooms on the first floor and further three upstairs.  Each room have lovely high ceilings and tasteful, if simple, interior décor.  They all have en-suite facilities with hot and cold water, televisions and the suites, junior suites and have whirlpools
