The Manatus has created a lodge totally different to any other within the Tortuguero National Park.  They are a small hotel for starters, with only 12 rooms, the rooms are all built of brick, whereas most others are built of local wood, they have an a la carte menu when all other lodges are buffet and all services and activities are tailor made to what you want to do.

THE DETAIL

The 12 rooms are split into 4 blocks of 4, but all are individual rooms, none of them adjoining. They are all spacious with en-suite facilities, an indoor and outdoor shower, two queen beds in each room, air conditioning and cable TV and each are only 30 metres away from the river which means some of them have a river view.

The restaurant is open air and has a small bar next to it and the food is a mixture of Costa Rican and international.  There is a delightful little 2 tier sitting area protruding out onto the water which is ideal for sundowners and the second tier can be set up to accommodate for a private dining experience.

The swimming pool faces the River and has sun loungers and chairs around it, whilst they also offer kayaks and a form of boat which is powered by a bicycle to allow you to explore the river.
