Horse Riding In Ecuador

Ecuador is not a destination that would immediately spring to mind if you thought about riding in South America, but with a wealth of haciendas spread throughout the country, the riding possibilities are limitless.  Each of our selected haciendas offers various forms of riding, whether it is around stunning volcanoes or through some of the smaller colonial towns that characterise this country.
Horse riding in Ecuador is an activity done hand in hand with other interests as the country is not a pure riding destination.  Ideally this would be combined with visiting some of the local markets, colonial towns and even the Galapagos Islands.  Opportunities to ride come when you spend a little more time at one of the countries many haciendas.  Here you have the chance to ride through the low lying Andes for a day or a half day allowing you to cover a great distance and see more of this beautifully charismatic country.

South of Quito lies a wild landscape strewn with active volcanoes and the National Parks of Cotapaxi and Chimborazo. Cotapaxi national park is dominated by Mount Cotapaxi, the highest active volcano in the world, soaring to 19,700ft.

Situated north of Quito amongst the Andean foothills, is an area famed for its lakes, national parks and the bustling market town of Otavalo. For centuries, regional markets have played an important role in Indian life, providing regular gathering places for trade and socialising.
