Angel Falls

The impressive Angel Falls are found in Canaima national park, the 2nd largest in Venezuela with 30,000 sq km. At 979metres it is the highest waterfall in the world,16 times higher than Niagara, and synonymous with Venezuela. Situated within an impenetrable jungle it can only be seen by air or by an adventurous boat ride.

Merida and the Andes

The capital of the Venezuelan Andes is Merida, with the longest and highest cable car ride in the world, reaching the foot of Pico Bolivar 4776m. The region is situated in the Sierra Nevada mountains which offers superb scenery and walking.

Los Llanos wetlands

Los Llanos is a nature lover's paradise, located where the Andes drop away into vast grassy wetlands that flood during the rainy season (May - Nov). The area is positively teeming with wildlife, giving you the opportunity to view some of Venezuela's 1300 species of bird along with anacondas, river dolphins, caiman and capybaras.

Roraima tabletop mountain

In the far southeastern corner is The Gran Sabana; a wild and silent place well off the beaten track. Flat tabletop mountains and hidden waterfalls made this one of the candidates for Arthur Doyle's 'lost world'.

The Orinoco Delta

The Orinoco delta and the Amazonas contain protected mangrove and rainforest respectively, which require a permit from the authorities to visit. This is a unique opportunity to encounter remote tribal Indians and a chance to understand their culture and way of life.
