The rooms are distributed over two floors and the suites on the second floor have private terraces offer panoramic views of the Colonia Bay. The old brick walls give the rooms a certain amount of charm and the interior modern décor gives a lovely contrast. The Hotel Posada del Virrey is located on a quiet street in the beautiful historical district of Colonia del Sacramento. It is close to all the restaurants and shops, and just a few minutes stroll to the shore of the famous Rio de la Plata. The hotel also has a nice restaurant and the buffet breakfast is very good. Plaza Mayor is a converted colonial house inside the historical quarter of Colonia. It has a lovely feel to it with an interior courtyard, beautifully decorated with flowers and some of the rooms having views to the lighthouse and the nearby river.
