El Valle
El Valle de Anton, known simply as El Valle, has a geologically distinguished setting and is located in the crater of an extinguished volcano. It boasts a near perfect year-round spring climate and is famous for its local markets which feature; handicrafts, fresh fruit and vegetables and beautiful native plants such as orchids and bougainvillea.
El Valle's Gaital National Monument, a cloud forest nature preserve is excellent for hiking, nature tours and birding. You can also enjoy a scenic ride on horseback or alternatively visit the painted stone, an enormous stone petroglyph with strange images and symbols. Some say it is an ancient map of the region.
This lovely mountain town is just two hours from Panama City and is surrounded by dry forests and waterfalls, which makes it a perfect day trip or alternatively a nice two or three day break away from Panama City. THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Below is a list of things to see and do around the area, though we are able to create any itinerary depending on your interests.
Canopy trail and zip-lines. Undoubtedly a highlight of the region, these wires allow you to observe the forest from a different perspective. There is something for everyone from quiet walkways to rapid zip-wires through leafy treetops in a completely safe but exhilarating manner. Cloud forest trails. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to spot the flora in the region, a poison arrow frog or two-toed sloth among many others. For those wanting more of a challenge there are the nearby mountain peaks which offer longer treks and superb views. Horse riding. This is one of the best ways to see the area, as it allows you to cover a greater amount of terrain in a more natural way.
