Wildlife In The Galapagos
A Galapagos holiday is a holiday like no other. No-where else in the world would your guide say to you prior to departure, ‘you may not touch the wildlife, but the wildlife can touch you’. It is a magical experience, a place where you can be nose to nose with a seal pup on the beach or swim with seals in the water as they do summersaults around you. The wildlife is as diverse as the islands themselves and it is a destination that must be on everyone’s wish list.
The islands are best seen by boat and there are a range of departures varying from 4 nights to 14. Generally you will visit the islands during the day and travel at night which allows you to maximise your time on the islands. In the past few years a number of hotels have sprung up on the islands themselves and although a different way of seeing the islands there are still doubts as to their environmental impact.
The Galapagos Islands are made up of 19 islands, 13 major and 6 smaller, each originating from undersea volcanoes that erupted over 600 million years ago, now form part of Ecuador’s National Park system. This is a place like no other.
