We love walking and South America one of the best places in the world to do it. Having the Andes mountain range run the length of South America affords numerous possibilities, whether they are short day walks or full weeks of trekking. This is a place where you can be surrounded by the natural world, away from everyone. Where the play of light, the clear air and the movement of the skyline are best appreciated, a time when you are free, and in a world of your own.
Any walking experience can be done on your own, though some of the longer treks can be better in a group where you can share the experience, such as the Inca Trail. Here we will put with you a walking group with no more than 18 people and most times the group is between 4 and 12. For other more diverse destinations, like Torres Del Paine in Chile or the Lake District in Argentina day walks are the best way to see the area as it allows you to access different parts of the Andes each day.
Guided walks can always be stitched into any itinerary, as a short walk, or a more serious trek over a number of days. In all cases, a brilliant guide will enhance your experience and help you understand the wildlife and geology and help you notice the smaller details which make the difference.
Certain walks in South America require permits and so we strongly recommend booking as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment, especially for the Inca Trail in Peru, where we advise booking up to 6 months in advance. Each of our walks, whether they are day walks or longer treks, they are accompanied by a guide for your benefit and learning pleasure.
Whether you are after a 10 day trek through the Andes or just a day walking around a glacial lake, there is a wealth of possibilities for walking in Latin America.
