San Juan Del Sur
San Juan del Sur is a scenic fishing village at the head of a horseshoe bay. The peaceful southern Pacific coast has dramatic sunsets, rolling ocean waves and tranquil beauty. Sea turtles are still regular visitors to these stretches of beach and one of the most popular nesting sites – ‘La Flor’ – is within easy reach.
Great surfing, diving and snorkelling can be found nearby, and the sport fishing and sailing are world class. Kayaking, mountain biking and horse riding are also possible. Otherwise do nothing at all and relax in one of Nicaragua's most beautiful areas.
You can reach San Juan del Sur by car from the capital in 3 hours or just 1.5hours from Granada. With San José only 45 minutes’ flight away it also combines well with Costa Rica. THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Turtle Nesting ‘La Flor’ Wildlife Reserve. Half day. From August to January this is the most important and heavily visited beach by nesting turtles receiving an average of 4000 females, who deposit their eggs along the 800 meter sand beach. The reserve protects 800 hectares of tropical dry forest backing onto mangroves and a sweeping sandy cove. Sailing. Full day. Explore the little-visited Southern Coast in a sailing boat, swim in secluded bays and have a barbecue lunch on a deserted white sand beach. Canopy Tour. Half day. A highly recommended way to experience the coastal jungle; ‘Da Flying Frog’ has 2.5 kilometres of zipline in a rural setting where nature prevails. The longest cable is 328 meters; the highest one passes over a canyon measuring 70 meters deep; and on the fastest one you can reach a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. Only five minutes from San Juan del Sur.
