HOTEL PLAZA COLON

Granada

Hotel Plaza Colon: Our View

Located on the principal plaza of Granada, this is one of the city’s finest hotels.  Built in 2006 it is one of the newest in the city and it has been beautifully restored from its original colonial foundations.  At the centre of the hotel is an open courtyard containing a lovely shaded sitting area from which all the rooms are centred.

Hotel Plaza Colon: The Detail

The 26 rooms that are split amongst two levels are all the same, with the differences being balconies that run along the side street or balconies that face the main plaza to those without.  Each room is simply designed inside, but are spacious with high ceilings, fans, air conditioning, cable TV and internet facilities.

The open courtyard at the centre of the hotel contains a lovely shaded sitting area to take breakfast, a small garden with a water feature at one end and comfortable sofas along the side, whilst towards the rear of the inner courtyard is a warm swimming pool.  The surrounding benches and décor is all wooden whilst the original wooden pillars which support the hotel have been lovingly restored giving the hotel that distinctly colonial feel.

The hotel also has a small cafe to one side serving excellent Nicaraguan coffee and on the other side a small wine bar – the only one in Granada – both of which faces the main plaza and is ideal for watching the life go by!
