WATERFALLS TO GLACIERS

This itinerary encompasses some of the best national parks in Patagonia, Iguazu falls, whale watching in Peninsular Valdes and a cruise around the end of the world. This is a private tour staying in luxury accommodation throughout; though expensive the price can be altered depending on your choice of hotels.

Day 1: Buenos Aires
This city tour takes in the most interesting parts of the city, from the Plaza de Mayo and Colon theatre to the famous opera house. In the afternoon you have the opportunity of visiting some of the more diverse districts such as San Telmo.

Day 2: Iguazu Falls
A short flight brings to the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, where the Parana River creates the impressive Iguazu Falls. Your hotel is on the Brazilian side affording views of the falls. The afternoon is spent exploring the Brazilian side.

Day 3: Iguazu Falls
Today you cross back into Argentina viewing the falls from a totally different perspective, which includes the 'Devil's Throat', and an exhilarating boat ride to the very foot of the falls.

Day 4: Fly to Trelew
After an early morning flight to Buenos Aires you continue by plane to the Welsh settlement of Trelew situated on the Valdes Peninsular. Your 3-night stay here is in a charming hacienda located on the peninsular.

Day 5: Peninsular Valdes
Drive across the peninsular stopping to view sea elephants, seals and a wide array of flora and fauna. In the afternoon board your boat for the chance to spot the Southern Right Whale or Killer Whales.

Day 6: Punta Tombo Penguin Colony
Driving south you visit the Punta Tombo penguin colony the largest in the world with over 3 million living here. This is where they protect their young until they are strong enough to make it on their own, giving you the opportunity to see the life cycle.

Day 7: Fly Ushuaia
An early morning flight brings you to the end of the world - Ushuaia. The town evokes images of the great explorers that passed through here on the their epic adventures around the world. The day is free for personal exploration. Your hotel is situated on the outskirts of town surrounded by pristine forest.

Day 8: Lapataia National Park
A train covers the short journey into the national park, which incorporates the very end of the Andes range. The day is spent walking/driving around the park that contains crystal clear lakes and emerald lagoons surrounded by snow capped mountains.

Day 9: Martial Glacier. Board M/V Mare Australis
Embarking the boat at 18.00 gives you another day around Ushuaia. You drive towards the martial glacier overlooking Tierra del Fuego and a short walk to the foot of the glacier gives you a panoramic view of the end of the world!

Day 10: M/V Mare Australis
Sailing around Cape Horn you begin by landing at Cape Horn National Park where the Atlantic meets the Pacific. In the afternoon you pass through he Beagle Channel and disembark at Wulaia Bay, an indigenous settlement with archaeological ruins, curious flora and spectacular views.


Day 11: M/V Mare Australis
Continuing through the Magellan straits and passing around the Darwin Mountain Range you board small launches which take you to the front of the Pia Glacier, one of the most beautiful in the range.

Day 12: Punta Arenas to Torres del Paine National Park (Chile)
The final morning is spent visiting Magdalena Island, home to thousands of Magdalena penguins in different stages of development. You walk up to the lighthouse, which has guided exploring sailors through the Magellan straits giving you panoramic views of the straits. Disembarking late morning you transfer straight to the magnificent Torres del Paine National Park. 3 nights in the Explora hotel Patagonia.

Day 13-14: Torres Del Paine National Park
The next 2 days are spent exploring the park including the iceberg rich Lago Grey, walks to the Frances Glacier and Lago Nordenskjold with the towering granite peaks or 'Torres' high above. You also cross the mineral rich Lago Pehoe by hydrofoil, a milk green lake created from water run off from nearby glaciers.

Day 15: El Calafate and Perito Moreno Glacier
An early morning drive takes you back into Argentina and to the town of El Calafate. A short stop for lunch and you continue straight to your base for the next 3 nights the hotel Los Notros. The hotel overlooks the Perito Moreno Glacier and is the only hotel situated inside the Los Glaciers National Park.

Day 16-17: Los Glaciers National Park
Cruise to the Perito Moreno Glacier the only glacier in the world to be moving forward, and watch icebergs break off and float past. Walking onto the glacier is a memorable experience and highly recommended, streams of water run trapped under the ice leaving strange ice formations and stunning colours that bring the glacier to life. You can also visit the 2 nearby glaciers of Upsala and Onelli.

Day 18: Fly Buenos Aires
Returning to the capital the rest of the day is left to personal exploration. Your final evening is spent enjoying on of Argentina's traditions, a tango show.

Price per person based on 2 people sharing £ 5,950 Although expensive, this is a luxury tour and includes transfers, meals where applicable and internal flights.
