Palmetto Bay Plantation: The DetailBuilt completely of local wood the main house has a small swimming pool overlooking the ocean, the bar sits just above the pool with the restaurant surrounding both the pool and bar. Staff, are superbly laid back and nothing is too much trouble. This really is the place to come if you want to get away from it all. The 28 rooms are all privately owned and as such they come fully furnished with a fully fitted kitchen sitting area and most have a minimum of two bedrooms. Each stand on stilts have a private balcony and are located a short walk away from the beach. Only three of their rooms actually have beachfront views, though do not let this put you off. They are spacious with high ceilings, air conditioning in the rooms, ceiling fans in all other rooms, dining area, sofas and televisions. The rooms also have a small stereo, where the local radio stations will keep you entertained. The beds are almost all queen size beds, which is the only drawback to the property. Copan
The Hacienda San Lucas’ style is rustic, simple yet truly elegant. The main house is over 100 years old and has been renovated with loving care over the last few years by the owners together with local artisans from Copan.

As with the best places to stay in any town, Posada del Angel is located close to the central area, has only 7 rooms and is run by friendly and efficient staff. This is one of our favourite places in Antigua because it contains all you need and nothing you don’t
