VILLA CARIBE

Livingston and the Rio Dulce

Villa Caribe: Our View

The hotels location is its biggest selling point, being on the banks of both the Rio Dulce and the Caribbean Sea and as such it has superb views across the water.  It would be quite easy here to lose a day watching the boat traffic pass in front of the hotel whilst swimming in the large pool, which is on the banks of the river.

Villa Caribe: The Detail

The Villa Caribe is quite simply the best place to stay in this sleepy little Garifuna town, not because it is superb – it is clean and comfortable – but because there are no other respectable options.

The hotel has 42 rooms, most of which are located in the main block and are small but clean and comfortable and have a small balcony with a hammock.  The best rooms however are the individual cabana style rooms that are along the front of the hotel overlooking the Rio Dulce.  These rooms are slightly larger, made from a wooden exterior and all have balconies overlooking the river and each has a small sitting area on.

The hotel has a fine restaurant, mostly serving buffet style food and often with local Garifuna drumming as entertainment.
