Villa Maya: Our View

For us, the attraction of Villa Maya is its communal areas and location.  Situated on the edge of the lake approximately 20 minutes drive from the busy town of Flores, makes it feel like more of a hide away.  The open plan of the reception, bar and restaurant makes you feel like you are never too close to anyone else at the hotel, which considering its size – 56 rooms, is an achievement.

Villa Maya: The Detail

They have 2 types of rooms; cabanas and bungalows, both of which have their pros and cons.  The cabanas are individually and are the furthest point of the hotel with private balcony overlooking the lake.  These rooms have a simple interior with a lovely outside shower.  The bungalows are the most recent addition and as such have a smarter interior with lovely wooden chairs and a small balcony over looking the lake.

There are three bungalows to a building and approximately 10 buildings, which run around the corner of the hotel.  This a good option if you want to be away from town in a reasonably priced hotel.

The large swimming pool has a waterfall running into it, along with a Jacuzzi at the top.  The restaurant and bar both look out over the lake and are spread out across the front of the hotel.
