Casa Encantada: The DetailThis 10 room posada located 3 blocks from the main square is a charming and tranquil place to stay. The casa is decorated throughout with colourful Guatemalan textiles and soft furnishings, whilst the small pool is situated around pristine kept gardens. The rooftop terrace has some of the best views across Antigua, with the dominating volcano appearing on top of you. This is definitely the place to take breakfast and also enjoy evening drinks whilst the sun is setting. Each of their three room types; superior, deluxe and the one suite, contain king size wrought iron beds with en-suite bathrooms. Situated just outside of the town of Panajachel, this 60 room hotel has an excellent location on the edge of the lake. The hotel has some of the best gardens in the area, so much so that they charge a small amount for people not staying in the hotel

For us, the attraction of Villa Maya is its communal areas and location. Situated on the edge of the lake approximately 20 minutes drive from the busy town of Flores, makes it feel like more of a hide away. The open plan of the reception, bar and restaurant
