This is such a unique destination, which any adult or child will remember for the rest of their lives. Nowhere else in the world can you get so close to such an array of wildlife and when you are told, ‘the wildlife can touch you, but you cannot touch the wildlife’ you know you are in for something special.
There are three boats whioch we recommend for a family holiday to the Galapagos, all of which are outlined below. they each offer offer specific departures for familes with children ages twelve and up on all expedition vessels throughout the year. Families with children ages seven and up can travel on any of their designated family departures. They even offer family departures, for teenagers and graduation departure, which are geared towards families who prefer to travel with other families with other similar aged children.
Designated family departures are offered over school breaks and feature age-appropriate activities depending on the ages and number of children on board. The naturalists know how to bring these Islands they love to life and to balance learning with fun for the entire family. The Galapagos Islands are made up of 19 islands, 13 major and 6 smaller, each originating from undersea volcanoes that erupted over 600 million years ago, now form part of Ecuador’s National Park system. Family departures for children ages 7 to 12
Kids can visit the bridge and learn about navigational charts and tie nautical knots with the Captain. Special parties include games with prizes, drawing contests, ice cream social sundaes and the King Neptune costume party and talent show. They also have board games, books and DVDs on board that are suitable for children. There are masks, fins, wet suits and life vests in child sizes available. A separate briefing geared toward the younger ones and kid-friendly menus are offered on family departures (in addition to the regular menu for adults. Teenage departures for children ages 12 to 17 These trips will be more physically active than an all adult or family departure with younger children, the guides will optimize the longest trails and all kayaking and snorkelling opportunities. Special parties include movies and popcorn and the King Neptune costume party. They also have board games, books and DVDs which teenagers will enjoy. Note: please inquire which weeks have teenagers on board at the time of booking as family departures dates are subject to change. Occasionally, a family departure could be a group of mixed ages 7-17 or mixed adults and children.
