Alto Atacama: The DetailAlto Atacama is located in the fertile Catarpe valley, just 3 km away from the town of San Pedro de Atacama. It is flanked by mountain ranges, iconic archaeological sites, and the San Pedro River trickling its way alongside. The hotel has remained faithful to the local surroundings, creating a hotel which is rustic yet elegant, with local handicrafts adding warmth and character. The 32 spacious and comfortable rooms all come equipped with mini bar, safe deposit box, TV, telephone and each with a private terrace and incredible views. The internal décor is simple and elegant and they have used local carvings as part of the decoration giving it a rustic charm and in keeping with the spirit of the area. At Alto Atacama you can choose from over thirty cultural and adventure activities, with everything from a visit to the workshop of a local artisan or a meeting with a shaman, to bike rides and volcano treks. If all these activities sound too much there is always the ‘Puri’ spa. It has six outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor whirlpool baths, and a wide range of spa treatments to help you relax.
