VICTORIA HOUSE
The Cayes
Victoria House: Our ViewThis was one of the first hotels established on the island and the only 5 star hotel on Ambergis Caye. Located approximately 20 minutes south of the town by foot, it is sufficiently far enough away from the town to feel like you are on your own stretch of beach, yet close enough to access all of the towns restaurants and bars. Victoria House: Fast Facts
Victoria House: The DetailThe hotels boasts two outdoor swimming pools, the first of which overlooks the beach and ocean and the second is an infinity pool located towards the rear of the property. Victoria House has two restaurants, one by the bar and pool which is a relaxed affair and a second, more formal one in the centre of the hotel. The formal restaurant has excellent food and is one of only three on the island that is worth eating in even if you are not staying here. The hotel is spread over a large area containing 11 different room types ranging from state rooms to casitas to individual villas which can sleep up to 6 people. The rooms all have the amenities you would expect of a five star property with en-suite facilities, mini bar, fans and air conditioning. The rooms themselves have high ceilings, large bathrooms and are simply decorated, with each having a balcony, some of which overlooking the ocean. You may also likeThe Cayo District
Unquestionably the best lodge option in the region. Situated a 30 minute drive outside of the town, the lodge has access to all the main attractions in the area, yet is pleasingly far enough away from it all to feel like you are in the middle of the jungle.
Toledo
From all the lodges we have visited in Belize and for many reasons, this stands out above all. The mangers of Machaca Lodge have had extensive experience with running lodges in Africa and they are, in short, trying and succeeding to replicate that ‘African’ felling.
Mountain Pine Ridge
Francis Ford Coppola’s lodge in Mountain Pine ridge was discovered by the man himself. The abandoned wooden lodge which he found is set back on the rocky slopes of the Privaisson River. Winding paths lead you down to numerous waterfalls and pools which are ideal for swimming.
