The Inn At Roberts Grove: Our View

This is one of a number of larger properties along this stretch of coast, although due to the layout of the hotel and the close proximity to the water’s edge it seems to have avoided that tag of being a large hotel. Roberts Inn has three swimming pools a restaurant and bar on the beach, pool bar and a pier with a bar at the end as well.

The Inn At Roberts Grove: The Detail

The 52 rooms are spread out along the coast with most offering a sea view.
The 12 different room types are easy to explain, with the standard rooms being at the bottom and superior along the top – superior due to better ocean view.  Each block is a different standard, ranging from standard to deluxe to luxury and then subdivided into two depending on whether you are on a lower or upper floor.

Rooms all have a simple interior décor, en-suite facilities, air conditioning, ceiling fans and balconies with sitting areas and hammocks.  The deluxe rooms have wrap around balconies a small kitchenette with a sitting area and have the option of being used as a family room by using the rooms at the rear of the blocks which have a connecting door, making them adjoining.

The onsite activity options are numerous, ranging from jungle expeditions, visits to Mayan ruins to snorkelling and diving.  The hotel is located approximately 15 minutes by car from the town, although the hotel offers complimentary shuttle services.

From all the lodges we have visited in Belize and for many reasons, this stands out above all.  The mangers of Machaca Lodge have had extensive experience with running lodges in Africa and they are, in short, trying and succeeding to replicate that ‘African’ felling.
The Cayo District
Unquestionably the best lodge option in the region.  Situated a 30 minute drive outside of the town, the lodge has access to all the main attractions in the area, yet is pleasingly far enough away from it all to feel like you are in the middle of the jungle.

Established in 2001 by a Belgian couple called Sandra and Yan, Portofino has forged an enviable reputation as a relaxed yet stylish destination with extremely friendly service. It is a small, intimate hotel, with just 17 rooms
