Iguana Reef Inn: The DetailThere are 13 rooms and they are split between the three main buildings. 6 rooms are classed as ‘Sea-side’ as they look out over the sea to the west and some of them have a lovely sea view. Another 6 are classed as ‘Park-side’. All rooms are spacious and have AC and balconies. There is also a 2 bed studio apartment with a wonderful wrap around balcony with great views. Located on the hill above the town of San Ignacio this is a very good budget option. You are close enough to the town to sample the local cuisine and the hotel is located next door to the Mayan ruins of Cahal Pech

With 6 individual cabanas overlooking the river that encompasses the lodge, this mid-range option is an excellent alternative to the Machaca lodge if you are craving your rustic setting.
Placencia
This is one of a number of larger properties along this stretch of coast, although due to the layout of the hotel and the close proximity to the water’s edge it seems to have avoided that tag of being a large hotel. Roberts Inn has three swimming pools
