Chan Chich Lodge: The DetailThe 12 individual thatched roof cabanas are situated within the plaza of an ancient Mayan city and are surrounded by well kept gardens and resident birds. The lodge has 6 superior cabanas and 6 deluxe cabanas with the difference being the size of the bathrooms, with the deluxe cabanas having his and her basins and shower heads. Both have wrap around balconies with chairs and a pair of hammocks and each looks onto the surrounding jungle. This was one of the first hotels established on the island and the only 5 star hotel on Ambergis Caye. Located approximately 20 minutes south of the town by foot, it is sufficiently far enough away from the town

The Francis Ford Coppola owned Turtle Inn is the most chi-chi place to stay on the Peninsula. Balinese in style it is opulent yet understated – a very difficult thing to achieve. Decorated with Balinese hand crafted artefacts
