Mexico Beaches
Mexico’s coastline is simply outstanding. The whole of the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is lined with picture perfect powder white sand, making it one of the most popular beach destinations in Latin America. On top of this there are numerous top class hotels, all of which are located directly on the beach.
The most popular areas are Cancun and Playa del Carmen, however these are both large towns that are often noisy and overcrowded. We have found a selection of places that are away from these towns and are positioned on the best parts of the Riviera Maya.
Just a short distance away from the coast is a diverse mix of activities to keep even the most active person satisfied. The coral reef is a short 10 minute boat ride away, a place where a unique underwater world is waiting to be discovered. Inland are Mayan ruins, local markets, caves and even water parks where you can swim with dolphins The Riviera Maya boasts some of the best beaches in Central America with hundreds of miles of wide beaches and inviting shallow turquoise waters. The soft, powder sand is a brilliant white and the clarity of vision in the warm and clear Caribbean is superb.
Located to the northwest of Cancun, Holbox Island is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a shallow lagoon, which gives sanctuary to thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and creatures. The setting of Tulum is simply stunning with a compact group of Maya-Toltec temples perched on coastal cliffs above the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Tulum was built in the 12th century and these were troubled times in the Mayan world
The best of MexicoSome hotels are there as a convenience and some, like the Tides, are there to be experienced. This 30 room hotel and spa is situated on a white sandy beach that one expects of a Caribbean coastal hotel.
Situated close to the magnificent ruins of Tulum, Esencia was originally a privately owned and incredibly stylish property of an Italian Duchess overlooking the Caribbean Sea. In 2006 it was converted into a boutique hotel of just 29 rooms.
This exquisite hotel is centred around the original Hacienda style house which was hand built by local Mayan artisans. There are 66 rooms which are surrounded by stunning tropical gardens and three pools shaded by palms
