Costa Rica Beaches
Costa Rica seems to be synonymous with adventure and its coastline and beaches are no different. We generally recommend the Pacific coast here as there is a greater range of hotels and a more varied landscape. Beaches tend to be long and wide with cliffs and rocks at either end, making it a haven for beach combing and surfers.
The best place for some time on the beach is the Nicoya Peninsula. A huge tract of land that has small surfing communities, beach towns, remote bays and all with a backdrop of jungle covered mountains. The beaches here are golden brown, clean and covered in little shells whilst off the coast are smaller islands ideal for diving.
To the far south lies the Osa Peninsula, one of the lesser visited parts of the country, most of which is a national park. The peninsula is covered in jungle and offers some of the best possibilities for wildlife whilst at its base are untouched beaches. Nearby is the small national park island of Cano which has small beach and is one of the best places for snorkelling in the country. 
The most exclusive beach retreats of Costa Rica are to be found on the Nicoya Peninsula. Remote, pristine beaches are lined with jungle offering a perfect place to relax and enjoy the dry, sunny climate.
Comparable in grandeur to the Amazon basin, Corcovado National Park boasts 46km of untouched coastline and a vast tract of virgin tropical wet forest. This is Costa Rica’s last frontier, often cut off in the rainy season and only recently opened up to visitors.
We recommend flying in and out of the Pacific coast beaches as the inland area is covered in mountains which can be time consuming to cross.
